Big ten Voting Challenge at Indiana University

In my final undergraduate project, I collaborated with a partner to address voter apathy among college-aged audiences, particularly in light of the statistic that only 48% of eligible 18- to 24-year-olds voted in the 2020 presidential election. Our campaign reimagined classic American icons like Rosie the Riveter, Uncle Sam, and Smokey Bear with a humorous twist, posing the question, “What if they didn’t care about the future of the country?” The visuals aimed to highlight the absurdity of apathy in democracy while resonating with a generation familiar with these icons from high school history classes.

Selected by our professor to be displayed across campus the following year, this project emphasized the importance of caring about meaningful change. It encouraged students to register to vote, engage in democracy, and stand for progress within their communities, just as these symbols have represented change and action throughout history.
